Lab Profile

Department for EpiGenetics

The EpiGenetics group at Saarland University has a research focus on principles, mechanisms and consequences of epigenetic regulation. The group focuses on developing technologies for high sensitive detection of DNA-methylation and its oxidized forms and NOMe-based chromatin accessibility. These experimental approaches are complemented by bioinformatics approaches using deep learning. Functionally the group analyses mechanisms of epigenetic reprogramming during early mammalian development at the single cell level and epigenomic variations associated with metabolic or inflammatory diseases in distinct cell types.

  • Epigenomics
  • DNA-methylation
  • chromatin accessibility
  • single cell RNA-sequencing
  • reprogramming stem cells
  • liver function
