The first SCOG Hackathon took place on the 9th of October at ICB Munich. The goal of this workshop was to train researchers regarding the analysis of single-cell RNA-sequencing data and most importantly to foster interactions between SCOG members.

A group of 30 PhD students and Postdocs with very different background, from pure wet lab to pure dry lab, attended the tutorial and hands-on experience. The morning session introduced all participants to the general properties of single-cell RNA-sequencing data. In the afternoon, hackathon tasks like clustering and pseudotemporal ordering of the data encouraged in-depth discussions and provided a good basis to share experience. The hackathon was a great success and we are looking forward to organizing similar future events.
